Kiva Networks can establish a DSL connection on any lot in Happy Trails - even if you don't have a landline phone hooked up.
The connection is made from the phone room on HT thru the same line to the hook-up post that would be used for land line phone connections.
The user will run a normal phone line from the post to the input of the dsl modem and then run a jumper from the output of the dsl model directly into the ' LAN ' connector on the back of trhe computer...
That's it!! Normally the Kiva guys will check the modem and connections out to make sure everything is operating properly, they'll also change any settings that need changing so that you have a functioning connection to the internet.
You do not need an additional ISP connection. Kiva functions as your ISP.
You'll have a new e-mail address, but to continue accessing your previous e-mail, you'll need to maintain a relationship with your previous ISP, unless you were using a web-mail like Yahoo, Hotmail or other web-mail. Many ISP's have special low rates for just e-mail access and a few hours per month access.
Generally set-up is arranged and installed with about a 2-3 day turn around - but "stuff" happens and sometimes its longer.
I'll be glad to e-mail them for scheduling I'll just need your name lot number and phone numer - if you have one cell or otherwise.
You can also contact the network directly if you choose. Their website is WWW.KIVANETWORKS.COM
I have been with Kiva since just after they started service here an have had a couple VERY brief outages (less than 4 hours) but none in the last 3 years.
Their tech support is excellent, they all speak english :-) and are available during reasonable hours (their HQ is colorado).
Enjoy your computer!!!
