COMPUTER CLUB

Minutes of meeting December 21, 2006

Meeting called to order by President Carol Butler at 2pm with 38 persons present.

Minutes of previous meeting read and approved.

Treasurers report new balance of $1462.14.

Old Business:

The computer Lab storage cabinet is now equipped with dual padlocks and heavy-duty hasps through the efforts of Don Worthen. Any reimbursement by insurance looks unlikely.

New business:

Prez Carol asked for volunteers to serve on the nominating committee for our slate of officers for 2007/08. (Can you believe '08 already?) The request resulted in a committee chaired by Cherie Mastro with committee members Amy Perkins and Chuck Green.

The "Club Fair" is on Jan 13 in the Ballroom. Carol asked for staffing of the table for 3 shifts of one hour each beginning at 10 AM. (Flirting with disaster yet again, Steve Gray volunteered Lynne to bake her world famous chocolate chip cookies for the event; which might serve to keep George anchored to the area.)

The "door prize elves" are Steve Gray, Don Worthen and Connie Beckes for Jan, Feb and March respectively.

George Jester reported on the lineup of programs and training schedules for the season and it is impressive. We know from past experience that Phil Spohn will have all this info already posted on the Cyber Coyote website because he is so CRACKER JACK FAST that I won't detail it here.

Jim Freeman asked about the policy of the club regarding "short term guests" being allowed to take classes without being members. After some meaningful discussion, the current policy will continue. I.e. "the first class is a freebie for non-members but if additional class attendance is desired membership is required".

The last kindergarten class begins Jan19th.

George briefed us regarding the use of the Cyber forum and email for a source of answers and discussion as well as information.

George also explained (in my opinion the most easily understood) the differences between CD's and CD R/W's.

Jim Freeman demo'd a burning applet called Ashampoo, which is a basic approach without all the frills of the more expensive varieties. Door prizes were awarded and the meeting adjourned at 3pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Steve Gray, Secretary
